We are committed to making Holyoke a healthy place to live, work, play, worship and go to school.
We <3 Holyoke.
Holyoke has a lot to be proud of- we were one of the first planned industrial communities in the country, we are a designated Green Community, and are home to the largest solar array in Massachusetts.
Coal = pollution
The GDF-Suez owned Mt. Tom coal-fired power plant in north Holyoke pollutes soot, smog, and contributes to ozone. These pollutants are known to cause respiratory disease and other health problems.
Time to Transition for new good jobs
We are calling on GDF-Suez to cooperate with our community for retirement, redevelopment and a fair outcome for the workers.
¡Action for a Healthy Holyoke! (¡AHH!) includes Neighbor to Neighbor, Nuestras Raices, Toxics Action Center, Sierra Club, Conservation Law Foundation, Holyoke Food and Fitness Policy Council, Region 1 of the Massachusetts Nurses’ Association, Holyoke Municipal Employees of SEIU 888, United Auto Workers 2322, Arise for Social Justice, and Western Massachusetts Jobs with Justice.
